A middle note with a strong aroma, Wintergreen has a characteristic sweet and woody odor with a strong distinct ‘medicinal’ scent. Menthyl salicylate is the principal constituent of this plant. Wintergreen and Sweet Birch Oil are nearly identical in chemical composition and aroma; similarly, both were used in traditional folk remedies by the aboriginal peoples of North America.
